Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out at former garages and outbuildings adjacent to Rose Villa Nursery. The west facing elevation formed the exterior walls of several buildings fronting onto Rose Villa Lane. Cartographic evidence indicated that the phases of construction dated from the early 19th century. The western elevation was drawn during the building recording in order to facilitate the future reconstruction of the original exterior face of the wall, which was to be incorporated within the new development. There was no evidence for medieval activity and the function of the 19th century building could not be determined. Buried ploughsoil was encountered and suggested that there was potential for survival of archaeological features or deposits in the east of the site. [Au(adp)] |
