Abstract:
During the course of the evaluation the ragstone rubble face of the town wall, between two offsets, which was relatively neatly coursed was encountered. However, the impression obtained was that this face would not be actually visalbe since it is known that a earth rampart existed behind the wall. All the remaining deposits, however, exposed in the trench side were of post-medieval or modern date; a well embedded 18th century brick was recovered from the very base of the trench.[Au(abr)]
