Abstract: |
Six small areas of in situ medieval tiles were recorded at the site of Croxden Abbey. The smallest area comprised only twelve tiles, whilst the largest contained ninety three. The surfaces of the tiles were generally very weathered, although many had retained traces of black and yellow glazes. With the exception of some alternating black and yellow tiles, no attempt had been made to arrange the tiles in a formal pattern. None of the tiles exhibited evidence for surface decoration. [AIP] |
