Abstract: |
The paving at the northwest corner of this early 18th century church produced several reused stones. These included three grave slabs and other pieced of architectural masonry. Subsequent shallow excavation for an access ramp within the churchyard revealed recent made ground. There was no evidence of graveyard soil or of any burials. Adjacent excavation of a soakaway just outside the churchyard exposed a truncated subsoil horizon, overlying natural silty sand and gravels. [Au] |
