Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site was undertaken. Palaeolithic and Roman artefacts and evidence of late neolithic activity had been recorded in the surrounding area. Part of a bronze age timber trackway had been excavated nearby, and peat deposits had been observed during a borehole survey at the site itself. An 11th century canal may have passed through the vicinity. Ponds and docks were constructed in the area and on parts of the site in the 19th century. It was concluded that some archaeological work would be necessary. [AIP] |
