Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of a proposed development site was undertaken. Excavations in the near vicinity had recovered Neolithic flints and Bronze Age finds. Roman and medieval waterfront activity had been recorded, and a Saxon burial had been found. It was noted that previous piling and basements would have caused some destruction of archaeological deposits, but that such deposits were likely to survive over most of the site. Trial work was recommended, including test-pits, trenches and auger samples.[AIP] |
