Abstract: |
No listed buildings or structures of note were recorded within the site. A single Listed Building, a Grade II 15th century barn was recorded to the south of the study area. No Scheduled Monuments or archaeological sites/findspots were located, however a small number of sites/findspots were recorded just outside. Three of these were of prehistoric date, and one of Roman date. Ten other were sites/findspots of medieval date, with only one, a pit dated to the 10th-11th century. Cartographic analysis indicated that the study area had little changed between 1753 and the 1940's. Previous landscape change in the late 17th - early 18th century was characterised by the enclosure of woodland and deer parks for arable and pastoral farming regimes.[Au(abr)] |
