Abstract: |
Ten archaeological trial pits were excavated in relation to the proposed redevelopment of the site, which helped refine the initial assessment of the archaeological potential of the site. The brief had drawn attention to the potential for surviving Palaeolithic land surfaces and flint tools. Traces of an ancient land surface were observed in the evaluation but no flint tools or artefacts were recovered. In the light of this revised understanding of the archaeological potential of the site, the report concluded that the archaeological impact of the proposed redevelopment was minimal. [Au(abr)] |
