The report provides an assessment of the field remains of 26 Essex iron foundries operating from the late-18th to the 20th century. The survey aimed to establish the priorities of the industry, thereby enabling an appropriate response should significant archaeological and technological remains become threatened. Having identified the location of each site from documentary sources, they were visited to assess the survival of both standing and buried remains. [Au(abr)] |
