Abstract: |
A watching brief monitored work primarily associated with the deepening of two basement vaults of the Courthauld Institue, part of the late 18th century Somerset House and was in response to a condition upon planning consent. A small area of in situ foundation of the Tudor Somerset Palace was recorded. Architectural fragments of the Tudor Palace were also observed in the backfill beneath the 18th century vaults.
