Abstract: |
During the watching brief, a number of observations were made. An organic silty deposit, found at the base of Pit 3 may have been a former stream bed deposit and suggested that the stream had been much wider in the past. The retaining wall of the bus station appeared to have been built in the late 18th/early 19th centuries. Some of the bricks were unfrogged and were therefore likely to have predated 1850. Brick, pottery, animal remains, tile, plate tap and a post-medieval pendant were also recovered. [Au(abr)] |
