Abstract: |
A trial investigation was undertaken in advance of an extension to the village hall at Cholesbury. The area concerned was situated on the possible line of an outer defensive circuit of Cholesbury Camp, an Iron Age Hillfort. No archaeological features or artefacts relating to the hillfort were discovered though the edge of a small post-medieval feature, probably a ditch or pond, was noted. On the basis of this and other recent observations, it was thought unlikely that there was an outer line of defences along the southern side of the hill fort. [Au(adp)] |
