Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring was undertaken during construction work on an additional twelve bedrooms for the hotel in an area immediately outside of the precinct wall of the medieval Babwell Friary. The monitoring uncovered a large ditch running parallel to and outside of the Friary wall; this appeared to have been filled in the post-medieval period. Other small pits were found dispersed across the site but none of these could be dated. No further evidence was found of a possible medieval post hole building identified during an earlier evaluation. [Au] |
