Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of the excavation of four 15m by 5m trenches was undertaken across two areas of land divided by Staffordshire Street, prior to proposed redevelopment. The site produced no evidence of occupation or use prior to the post-medieval period. Several sherds of medieval pottery were recovered from the market garden soil layers and were regarded as residual. The post-medieval activity included the construction of three wells of probable late 19th century date and small features associated with horticultural activity. [Au(adp)] |
