Abstract: |
An archaeological desk-based assessment was carried out for the site prior to expansion of the quarry. There was extensive evidence for prehistoric activity in the area, such as earthworks, stone alignments, standing stones and remains such as round houses, linear boundaries and cairns were excavated in the 1980s. There was limited recorded archaeology within the western, eastern and southern sides of the proposed extension, with the exception of the 19th century quarry to the east. To the northern side of the quarry there was potential for survival of archaeological features. [Au(adp)] |
