Abstract:		 An archaeological desk-based assessment found that the site lay within the historic medieval core of Hertford, which from the 18th century onwards, was characterised by small dwellings and industrial buildings. A borehole survey found that made ground extended to a considerable depth in places, which may may have reflected archaeological deposits or general debris related to earlier uses of the site.
