Abstract: |
A desk-top assessment of the proposed site of a supermarket which lay at the edge of an Archaeological Priority Area was undertaken. Palaeolithic flints, other prehistoric artefacts and a Roman altar stone had been found in the surrounding area. The course of a Roman road passed nearby, and a possible medieval settlement had been excavated. It was concluded that much of the site had only a low archaeological potential. [AIP] |
