Abstract: |
<summary>An evaluation on land adjacent to Oversley Mill Services, Alcester, in June 1992 revealed the defensive ditch of an Iron Age hillfort (identified on aerial photographs - WA6119) that had been re-used during the Medieval period as part of the outer bailey of Boteler's Castle (WA543 and Scheduled Ancient Monument, Warwickshire No 74). A single gully of probable Iron Age date at the foot of the hill and flintwork and daub retrieved from a natural feature may be contemporary with the hillfort. Other medieval evidence was restricted to a parallel gully on the interior of the bailey ditch, which had an uncertain function. {italon}?Au/?Au(abr)/?Au(adp){italoff} {italon}SMR Primary Record Numbers:{italoff} WA6417 |
