Abstract: |
A watching brief was maintained during groundworks to the retaining/boundary wall against the north bank of Lincoln Castle, to the rear of 41-59 Westgate. The deposits removed from directly behind the exisiting wall consisted primarily of dumped modern rubbish and soil. Except for the western end of the area under investigation , which showed some evidence of building destruction, there was no indication of any earlier activity in this area directly to the north of the exisiting wall.
