Abstract: |
A programme of archaeological observation recorded an 18th or early 19th century burial vault that had been cut through by a heating duct. A second vault was partly viewed through an underfloor cavity immediately to the north of the excavated vault. Since the chancel floor was not lifted in this area, no further recording of it was possible. Finds recovered from the fill of the excavated vault included fragments of outer wooden coffin cases, iron coffin grips, a grip plate and a piece of wrought iron scrollwork. These items were dated from the mid-18th to mid-19th centuries. [Au(abr)] |
