Abstract: |
The assessment identified that in the Saxon and medieval period the site was believed to have lain in water meadows. Archaeological impacts would have been minimal. In the mid to late 18th century the site lay in an area of gravel quarries. It was likely that any archaeological remains, which may have been present, would have been totally destroyed by this quarrying. In the early 19th century the site was in use as agricultural land, probably after a period of landfill. Land use since 1819 was likely to have led to localised archaeological impacts through the cutting of building footings, service trenches and crane bases. [Au(adp)] |
