Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment was undertaken prior to proposed residential development. The site provided a good opportunity to examine a small area of relatively undisturbed land in a developed suburb. Minimal development occurred between the 11th and 19th centuries, survival of archaeological features if present was likely. Finds of Palaeolithic material showed flint industry in the the area. In particular, a number of flint assemblages had been found alongside a small river or stream. There appeared to be very little evidence of remains from any other period. The report recommended that a small archaeological field evaluation be undertaken to see how far the flint industry spread. [AIP] |
