Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation, consisting of a watchng brief during the excavation of foundation trenches and the excavation of a 10m by 3m trial trench, was carried out across the site in response to a condition upon residential development. The foundations and enclosing walls of a subterranean structure, probably a cellar, was uncovered containing a rammed chalk floor, which contained re-used late 18th century bricks. An undisturbed layer containing much pottery of the 16th and 17th centuries was also revealed. [Au(adp)] |
