Abstract: |
A desk-based assessment of a site proposed for quarrying identified a number of cropmark sites within the proposal area including a number of enclosure; a probable Bronze Age burial site comprising a ring-ditch with central pit; a series of linear features; a series of small ring-ditches within a set of small rectilinear ditched compounds; a pit alignment; ridge and furrow; and a number of modern field boundaries. During a field visit ridge and furrow earthworks, including a low bank possibly representing a headland from medieval cultivation, and a number of partly silted marl pits, were observed. [AIP] |
