Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken of the proposed residential development site. This was achieved by the excavation of 2.5% sample of the proposal areas. A ditch and two post holes, predating a medieval ploughsoil, were found. A medieval plough soil covered the whole of the evaluation area and a few sherds of medieval pottery were recovered from this deposit. The highest concentration of medieval pottery, however, was found on higher ground to the south of this plot. A flint blade and flake core represented casual discarded or lost items associated with hunting/gathering activities in the Mesolithic and Neolithic period. [Au(abr)] |
