Abstract: |
Two trenches were excavated in the hope that archaeological remains relating to the Palaeolithic period would be revealed. In 1955 a single Acheulian had-axe was found in perfect conditon close to the evaluation area and it was thought that further remains from this period may have been present. A post-medieval plot boundary and a residual sherd of 13th century medieval pottery was revealed. No Palaeolithic remains were encountered, but Pleistocene deposits were recorded in both trenches.
