Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was maintained during the course of groundwork connected with modifications to public transport and car park arrangements in the Castle Green/Castle Way area in the centre of Taunton. The area encompassed part of the outer bailey of Taunton's medieval castle and an earlier burial ground and part of a statutorily designated Scheduled Ancient Monument (SAM 22851). Disturbance of archaeologically significant stratigraphy was relatively slight, although disarticulated human remains were recovered at several different localities. [Au(adp)] |
