Abstract: |
A gradiometer survey was carried out at Homeground, a field whose southern boundary lay close to the base of the outer northern rampart of Cadbury Castle Iron Age Hillfort. The work was undertaken as part of the South Cadbury Environs Project. The data obtained were marred by ferrous disturbance, but were in general usefully informative. Negative anomaly stripes in the west part of the field were almost certainly indicative of ridge and furrow, which masked further anomalies in the area. Elsewhere, a possible rectilinear anomaly and two linear anomalies were recorded; one of the latter lay in the lee of a possitive lynchet within the field. Further anomalies indicated a trackway leading to enclosures. [AU(adp)] |
