Abstract: |
The watching brief was carried out as a result of a recommendation by English Heritage (Report to the Churches Committee of the Historic Buildings Committee, 24 February 1993),\nand as part of drainage improvement works. The construction trench excavated around the church provided a section through churchyard deposits and an elevation of the foundations of the building. Some very limited reassessment and enhancement of published accounts of the development of the church (Victoria County History, Pevsner, and Anon) was made possible as a result of the recording work carried out.[AIP] |
