Abstract: |
No sockets for wheel axles were seen in the pit walls, however, these may have been removed by the demolition of the upper courses. The walls identified within the pit may have acted as wheel supports. From the depth of the pit, and since the feeder leat would have come in at present ground level, it was most likely that undershot wheels were employed.[Au] |
