Abstract: |
Archaeological recording was undertaken following the excavation of a small trench along the south wall of Leadenhall. A section of medieval walling, probably one of the original early 13th century walls of Elias de Dereham's canonry, was revealed behind and below a plinth of early 19th century mathematical tiles at the base of the south wall of Leadenhall. Sections of late 17th or 18th century wall to either side of the medieval wall indicated that a cellar was later dug in the south wing of the medieval house, which was subsequently demolished in circa 1800 when the mathematical tile plinth was formed.
