Abstract: |
A site of two parts, one currently the subject of a planning application for residential development, with the remainder forming a proposal for future residential development, was the subject of an assessment. The site totalled 3.1 ha in area. Examination of available archaeological information and a site inspection were carried out. This suggested that whilst the general area, including the assessment site, had some archaeological potential, particularly for artefactual evidence of Mesolithic date, existing development within one part of the application site will have destroyed this potential. The other part of the site, to the west and south-west had been developed as kennels in the 1940s, but due to its insubstantial nature the archaeological potential should have survived. [Au(adp)] |
