Abstract: |
The author was invited by the developer to observe four test pits cut following the granting of planning permission for the refurbishment of Seighford Hall itself and prior to an application for the construction of sheltered housing within the old walled garden to the north-west of the hall. Two of the test pits were excavated into shallow topsoil in the walled garden. The test pit in the north-east corner was excavated though a late 19th century rubbish pit. The test pit adjacent to the north-east corner of Seighford Hall was excavated though an unidentified 19th century brick structure. [Au(abr)] |
