Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on land at Coin Street. The site lay within an Archaeological Priority Area as defined by the London Borough of Lambeth in its Unitary Development Plan. The potential archaeology in the area may have included evidence of medieval drainage channels and prehistoric human activity preserved in waterlogged peat remains. Alluvial clays and peat were located, with the peat deposits possibly dating to the Bronze Age / Iron Age. In addition, a line of post-medieval timber piles were found to overly a possible slight former channel. [AIP] |
