Abstract: |
A watching brief was undertaken during the excavation of foundation trenches for a swimming pool. Remains from the prehistoric, Romano-British and medieval periods were all evident within the village. Late medieval occupation was represented by the existence of the Old Hall, a significant building of the 16th century. Excavation of the foundation trenches revealed a sequence of natural and modern deposits. Overlying a series of natural clay deposits was a probable layer of medieval subsoil. Several sherds of medieval pottery were revealed during the investigation. [Au] |
