Abstract: |
This report presented the results of survey work which followed provisional identification of a former stone circle site during the Monuments Protection Programme (MPP) research. The work comprised a geomagnetic survey over the whole field, a targeted high-resolution electrical resistivity survey, and a micro-topographic survey. The fluxgate gradiometer survey provisionally identified a circular ditch and possible pits, which could have held stone uprights. The electrical resistivity survey indicated the probable presence of a circular arrangement of pits, which could have also held stone uprights. A micro-topographical survey located a higher, flatter area where the stone circle may have been located. A depression was recorded which may have been where a standing stone had been removed.
