Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out on the car parks in advance of potential redevelopment. A number of Anglo-Scandinavian and medieval pits were observed cutting into the natural bedrock and a late 12th century shallow ditch was observed in the north east corner of the site. Roman and medieval post holes, thought to be of agricultural origin, were observed across the site. Two phases of clay ramparts, forming the city defences, were encountered at the eastern end of the site. [Au(abr)] |
