Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of a supermarket and petrol-filling station. A small number of prehistoric finds and some Roman settlement had previously been recorded in the vicinity. The site of a moated manor house, a Scheduled Ancient Monument, lay nearby. Nine trenches were excavated during the evaluation, but no archaeological features were discovered. Finds consisted of prehistoric flints and two fragments of medieval peg-tile. It was concluded that only minimal further work would be necessary during the development. [AIP] |
