Abstract: |
The desktop assessment on the proposed development site established that the course of the former stream gully made up a substantial part of the site. The gully appeared to have been infilled in the 1860s, effectively rendering the site archaeologically sterile. The 19th and 20th century buildings that had been identified on the site, such as the former carriage sheds and stables, were likely to have been uncellared and with limited foundations. With the obvious exception of the petrol tanks and inspection pits, archaeological features/deposits may have survived in the north-west third and the extreme south of the site. [Au(abr)] |
