A watching brief was held over topsoil stripping ahead of sand and gravel extraction. Nothing of archaeological interest was seen. This was the third phase of archaeological work undertaken, previous watching briefs, in 1990 and 1994-6 had observed and recorded a field boundary, prehistoric pottery and flints, and Romano-British pottery.
