Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during the groundworks associated with the construction of a double garage and work-store extension to the present property. The site lay within an area protected under the Ancient Monument and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 as County Monument No.115 Lincoln, Roman Colonia (Lindum) and it was therefore a requirement that Scheduled Monument Consent be obtained prior to the commencement of any works that might have affected the monument. Groundworks associated with the development were shallow and unlikely to impact upon any buried archaeological remains. Although the results from the watching brief were negative, an enhancement of knowledge of the area was achieved with regard to the survival and extent of archaeological deposits. [Au(adp)] |
