Abstract: |
Cores and boreholes in the south bank of the River Parrett at the Black Smock Inn identified a buried obstruction within the bank. The feature was not seen or sampled and in order to determine whether it might be of some archaeological importance a brief survey of the history of navigation and embankment on this stretch of river was undertaken. This led to the conclusion that although the nature and date of the obstruction remained problematic, it may have related to a redundant sluice.[Au(abr)] |
