Abstract: |
The area of land which was the subject of this report was adjacent to the Old Rectory. It had planning permission for the construction of a building. An archaeological condition was attached to a variation on this application. Three trenches each measuring 12m by 1.5m were located over anomalies revealed by a geophysical survey carried out in 1997. The evaluation revealed evidence of gullies, ditches and post holes indicative of medieval settlement. The planning authority was likely to require a further scheme of archaeological works in order to ensure that that these were preserved by record in advance of any development. [Au(abr)] |
