Abstract: |
An evaluation was carried out at a proposed development site which was occupied by a hospital, formerly a 19th century workhouse. Evidence of human activity dating from the 10th-17th centuries had been excavated immediately to the south. During the evaluation, three undated post holes and a sherd of neolithic or bronze age pottery were found. Early phases of the hospital or workhouse were identified, and a ditch containing early 19th century pottery was recorded. It was concluded that no further work would be necessary. [AIP] |
