Abstract: |
The assessment identified the presence of significant quantities of both Palaeolithic and Neolithic finds. In addition, a number of Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman finds suggested a degree of continued activity throughout the later prehistoric and Roman periods in the vicinity of the site. Historical and cartographic data suggested that little post-medieval or modern settlement had taken place on or adjacent to the site prior to the present housing development, established during the 1950's. The construction of the present bungalows and associated garden terracing during the 1950's was likely to have had significantly damaged any in situ archaeological deposits in parts of the site.
