Abstract: |
The major visible feature of the site following topsoiling was a colluvial deposit containing abraded early-mid 13th century pottery, which covered the eastern part of the site. A number of shallow post-holes or pads were cut into this deposit. When this layer was removed, several phases of ditches, which contained pottery, and which probably defined fields and domestic plots, were discovered. At least five phases of occupation appeared to be represented, dating from the Late Iron Age to the early medieval period, although occupation was not continuous. [Au] |
