Abstract: |
Three archaeological trial trenches were excavated in advance of a proposed residential development. Each of the trenches contained significant archaeological remains, although unlike elsewhere on the site, no structural evidence relating to the Romano-British period was located. A significant number of medieval deposits and structural features, primarily consisting of ditches/gullies, pits and postholes were also recorded. It was clear from the trial excavations that the depth at which significant archaeology was preserved varied from trench to trench, a factor that may have impacted upon the need for further archaeological work in advance of development in particular areas.
