Abstract: |
The evaluation comprised the machine-excavation of three trenches positioned in accessible areas that were likely to be affected by the proposed residential development at the former animal feed factory site. Documentary evidence had suggested that buildings associated with Priory Mill, which was of medieval origin, may have been within the site boundaries. However, no evidence for archaeological deposits or finds were identified in any trench, it seemed likely that during the construction of the railway and more recently the feed mill, the site would have been levelled and evidence for archaeological activity which may have been present, had now been removed.[Au(abr)] |
