Abstract: |
A watching brief was carried out during excavations for wall footings and drainage features for two new houses, at a site which lay near the centre of the village of Moorland, or Northmoor Green. The village lay on a small island within the alluvial flood plain of a river. Similar islands frequently contained evidence of early occupation, dating from the prehistoric period onwards. During the watching brief, no evidence of pre-modern occupation was revealed, although a thin band of peat was noted. [AIP] |
