Abstract: |
A desk top assessment of the proposed site of a residential development was undertaken. A large number of prehistoric flint tools and a small late Bronze Age or Early Iron Age cremation cemetery had been found in the surrounding area. Iron Age, Roman and early medieval artefacts and a medieval cooking pit had been recorded nearby. A Methodist church, built in 1905, lay on part of the site itself. It was recommended that this should be recorded prior to its demolition, and that the groundworks for the development should be monitored by a watching brief. [AIP] |
